How are Instagram Photos and Videos Chosen for Explore?

Instagram has a 'Explore' tab where you can see photos & videos specifically suggested for each user. Initially, the 'Explore Tab' displayed photos & videos which were popular among all Instagram users. It is located at the second from left on the bottom bar of the Instagram app. It shows the photos and videos that you might like. It may show you the photos and videos liked by people whose posts you have liked and/or posts that are liked by a large number of people in the Instagram community. If your post appears on 'Explore' tab, then you will get a notification from Instagram. If you have notifications turned ON for Instagram, then you will also get a push notification.
