Dropbox is useful to sync and backup photos, videos and files to the cloud to access and share them with family and friends. After backing up photos, vidoes and file, you can pause syncing from Dropbox. Whenever you want to sync photos and videos again, you can resume syncing from Dropbox. When syncing is active, Dropbox will use any remaining bandwidth available to download changes and only 75% of available bandwidth to upload changes. You just need to adjust your bandwidth usage through the Dropbox Desktop Application.

Here are the steps to Pause and Resume Syncing from Dropbox on Mac OS X:

  1. Go to https://www.dropbox.com/ & sign in to your account.
  2. Download and install "Dropbox Desktop Application" on your Mac OS X.
  3. Click "Dropbox" icon from your menu bar.
  4. Click "Gear" icon.
  5. Select "Pause Syncing" from the menu.
  6. A "Pause" icon overlay will appear on the Dropbox menu indicating that syncing has paused.
  7. You can come back here to Resume syncing when you are ready for Dropbox to resume.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
