How to give people view-only access to your Dropbox files on a Windows Computer?

Last Updated :

Sometimes you may want to let people view the files in your folder without being able to change them. You can send a link to a file or folder, which allows recipients to view and download a copy of it. Or you can set view-only permissions for some or all members of your shared folder. View-only permissions enable members to always see the latest versions of the files without having the ability to edit them. We have explained the step by step process for each case:

Share a file
  1. If you haven't already, install the Dropbox desktop app on your computer.
  2. Right-click the file or folder and select Share…
  3. Choose Can view.
  4. Enter the name or email address of the people who need access to your files.
  5. Click Invite.

  2. Right-click the file and hover over More…
  3. Choose Copy Dropbox link.
  4. The link will be copied to your clipboard. You can then paste it into an email, message, or wherever people can access it.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
