How to give people view-only access to your Dropbox files?

Last Updated :

There are two ways you can give view-only access to people to view your Dropbox files. People you share a file with must have a Dropbox account. If you share a file to an email address not associated with a Dropbox account, then the person can create an account or use an existing account that's under a different email.
  1. Share a file if you only want certain people to have access to your file.
  2. Create a shared link if you want anyone to be able to click a link to access your file—people don't need a Dropbox account to view your file.
Whether you share a link or a file, the people you share with will be able to:
  • View files
  • Comment on files
  • Download copies of files
However, people who receive a shared link or shared file won't be able to edit the original file in any way.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
