That inner instinct, the fire within, the learning of techniques and a heart that wishes to explore, turns a photographer into a professional. So in simple words, seek within, it is all in there. Weddings are great photographing opportunities; a magical place gets suddenly created on some part of our Mother Earth. Getting the opportunity to photo-shoot, one must remember that with observation and immense practice one can get better quality. Quality is not something, which will happen minus effort; put in your best efforts and you will find some of the best end-results, and a very happy client:
Some Tips:
1. It is all in Inside Job
It is important to remember that it is not the gadgets and gear that make great photographs. It is all within, the ability to use the natural surroundings, the ability to follow that inner instinct which says, “Hey, I should use this!” or “Hey, this must be captured” will give some great photographs at the end of the day.
2. Knowing what to carry
It is nice to know how to capture your subject on their Special day, but equally important to know what gear will support you. It is very important to keep an exhaustive checklist and pack accordingly so that you don’t miss out on anything. Carry multiple lenses, the flash and the accessories, tripods, battery packs, extension boards, electrical tape. Keep a track of the dust on sensors and treat them accordingly. Double check once you’ve packed, so that you are not missing out on anything. Edit the checklist after every photoshoot, with things, which you feel, you should have carried this will help for your next jobs.
3. Knowing about Lighting Techniques
Learn lighting techniques, for some of the rituals it would be difficult to use flash. Practice and try capturing the ceremonies with as much as natural light, use angles that would get that perfect capture. Also a direct flash could be disturbing, the usages of bouncing flash and a flash diffuser are all helpful tips to follow.
4. Capturing real moments
Poses help, but following that inner instinct and anticipating an
emotion and capturing it as it happens is pure delight. So the spontaneous hug from a kid brother to the bride, or the brimming tears of the mother of the bride and the bride are all moments worth a capture. Making a checklist of photographs, which must be captured, would help. With every wedding you have done the photo-shoot, you will have the ability to build up this intelligence of emotions and capturing the same.
5. It is not an Edit Job always
If the captures were shaky, then no editing software would help. But yes knowing the right editing software would help with enhancing the photographs. There is a plethora of software today; knowing which ones would give you that effect you are looking for could bring out the best.
