Videos of young kids running around or engaged in their favourite activity are always a great way of preserving memories. Mothers often click numerous pictures and record videos of their kids so that years later, they can look back and the fun and hectic times with a smile on their faces.
But recording videos of children needs a little more consideration than just random recording. You will need a good digital camera, or at least a smartphone with a decent camera which can capture good quality video. The basics of photography and shooting a video apply here also.
But keep these three tricks in mind which will come handy while you are shooting kids (with a camera of course).
1. Get down to your child’s level so that you can take video from their point of view. You are obviously much taller than your kids, so if you stand and shoot, the angle will be very awkward and not at all pleasing to the eyes.
2. If your kids become aware of the camera and suddenly become conscious of it, then don’t worry. You just have to behave like you are completely aloof of the camera’s presence. If you act like its not a big deal, then so would your kids and that will allow you to shoot a candid video.
3. Distract kids away from the camera. You can either cause a distraction by asking your little one to check out some strange noise outside the window, or you can ask a third person to help with the task. This way, the kids would not look directly at the lens while you are shooting.
