How to Setup a New iPhone from an iCloud Backup?

If you buy new iPhone and you want to transfer an iCloud backup to a new iPhone, then first you need to backup the old iPhone. iCloud allows you to backup photos, videos, music, apps, contacts and much more. You need to turn ON 'iCloud Backup' to automatically backup all your data from old iPhone to iCloud account. Once you have backed up old iPhone data to iCloud, setup your new iPhone from an iCloud Backup. It is possible through the iOS Setup Assistant. So tap 'Settings' on your new iPhone and then tap 'General' tab. Tap 'Reset' and choose "Erase All Content and Settings" option. Now you can restore all your old iPhone data to new iPhone from iCloud Backup.

Following are the steps to Setup a New iPhone from an iCloud Backup:

  1. Tap "Settings" on your iPhone.
  2. Tap "iCloud" menu.
  3. Scroll down and tap "Storage & Backup".
  4. Move slider from left to right to turn ON "iCloud Backup".
  5. Tap "Back Up Now".
  6. You have backed up your current iPhone to iCloud account.
  7. Now you can setup your new iPhone from an iCloud Backup.
  8. Tap "Settings" on your new iPhone.
  9. Select "General" tab and tap "Reset".
  10. A "Reset" window opens up. Choose "Erase All Content and Settings" option.
  11. Once you have erased the data from iPad, you will see the set up screen.
  12. Complete the initial steps in iOS Setup Assistant for language, country and so on.
  13. When you reach the Set Up iPhone screen, tap on "Restore" from iCloud Backup.
  14. Sign into the iCloud by entering same Apple ID that you stored your iCloud backup on.
  15. Your new iPhone will begin to restore all your data.
