How to Create a Shared Photo Stream in iPhoto?

Last Updated :

iPhoto allows you to create a photo stream to share your photos and videos. You can add email addresses of your friends to share the photo stream. When you share the photo stream, your friends will get a notification and an email to subscribe to your shared photo stream. If friends view your shared photo stream on the web, they can not comment on your photos or videos clips. They also can not view the comments posted by you or by others who subscribe to your shared photo stream with an Apple device. You can also view the photos and videos that you have already shared.

Following are the steps to Create a Shared Photo Stream in iPhoto:

  1. Open iPhoto Library.
  2. Select the photos or videos which you want to share.
  3. You have 2 options to create a shared photo stream. One is, click the "Share" button located at the toolbar and click "iCloud" and then click "New Photo Stream". Another option is drag the photos or videos to iCloud located in the "Source List" and click "New Photo Stream".
  4. The "New Photo Stream" dialog appears.
  5. Type the email addresses of you friends in the "To" field.
  6. Type the name for the photo stream in the "Name" field.
  7. If you select the "Subscribers Can Post" checkbox, then your friends will be able to post their own photos or video clips.
  8. If you select the "Public Website" checkbox, then you can share your photo stream with someone who doesn't have an Apple device.
  9. Click "Share" button.
  10. This is how you can create a shared photo stream in iPhoto.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
