How to Backup your Mac Photos to Google Photos?

Last Updated :

Google photos is a Cloud storage service that offers you a large amount of storage for your Photos (and videos), without worrying much about the cost. Google Photos on Mac is worth considering if you have tons of Photos on your MacBook. So if you need a Backup for your Mac Photos to Google Photos, just go through the following steps.

  1. Go to ‘Photos App’ on your Mac. Select the Photos to be backed to Google Photos.
  2. Create a folder on your Desktop.
  3. Drag these Photos to the created folder.
  4. Now on your browser go to https://photos.google.com and again ‘drag and drop’ the Photos from the new folder to ‘Google Photos’. ‘Google Photos’ would ask to to name the new album. It would be ‘Untitled’ by default. Name your album.
Your Photos are backed up to ‘Google Photos’!

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
