How to transfer photos from one Google account to another through Shared Albums?

Last Updated :

The most practical, time-efficient, and easiest way to move photos from one Google account to another is through Google Shared albums. With the help of the shareable link, you can easily move photos from 'A' Google account to 'B' google account. Here's how the process goes:
  1. Get a "Shareable link" in account A
  2. Using the share icon in the top right-hand corner of the Web UI will allow you to grab a shareable link. If you are viewing an album, the link will point to the entire album (which you can continue adding photos to). The best thing about using this method is that it will be easy for a viewer with a Google Photos accounts to add the images to their own collection. If you change your mind about sharing specific content, you can delete the link. To do so: open the left-hand menu, head to Shared Links, click Delete and confirm your choice.
  3. Go to another browser (or change user in Chrome, or sign off/on) so that you are signed into account B
  4. Open the "Shareable link"
  5. Click the icon with cloud and down arrow (Add to library).
  6. The photos are now added to account B
  7. If wanted, go back to account A and delete the photos
  8. Edit: there have been reports of reduced pixel count when using "Add to library".

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
