iCloud offers 5 GB of free storage space to all its users. If you have more photos and videos to backup, then you can clear up the space with simple steps. If you want to check what is taking up more space on your iPhone, then go to "Settings" and tap "iCloud". Tap "Storage and then tap "Manage Storage" option.

Delete Old Backups: If you change your iOS device and your iCloud account is taking up space because of old backups, then delete that backup. To do so, tap on the name of the device and then tap "Delete Backup" button.

Reduce the Size of Your Backups: Even if you delete your old backup on your iPhone, some device backups can take a large amount of space. Remove Mail from iCloud: Most iCloud accounts have an email address associated with it. Depending on when you first signed up for iCloud it could be a @me.com, @mac.com or an @icloud.com address. If you stop using that account, then also it is storing your data. You can easily remove mails from iCloud using iCloud website. To do so, go to iCloud website and login to your account. Click "Mail" icon and check out what you need and what not. Backup your mails which you want to keep and then delete the other mails and save your space.
