Last Updated :

If you are using an iPhone or any smartphone for that matter, it is important to back up your phone’s data on a regular basis to avoid unnecessary trouble if at all your phone fails in the future. Photos are an integral part of our lives. We tend to click pictures to record memories and relive them again at a later time. It is absolutely imperative for you to keep a backup of all your clicked pictures through your iPhone on your PC, laptop, cloud, etc. to avoid losing them accidently. There are several options available for this purpose. Here are 3 of the most popular and efficient ways to achieve this:

iTunes Backup:
Perform a backup through your iTunes software. This will store your contacts, messages, personal settings, apps data and photos. The backup process can be performed by plugging your iPhone into your computer through a USB cable.

  • Open iTunes.
  • Once your iPhone is connected, open the summary tab which can be accessed by clicking ‘View’ and then choosing ‘Show Sidebar’.
  • Click ‘Back Up Now’

This backup can be restored by connecting your phone into iTunes again and clicking on ‘Restore Backup’ which lies just adjacent to the ‘Back Up Now’ button.

iCloud Backup:
iCloud provides 5GB of storage space for photos, videos, messages, settings, ringtones, apps data. It, however, doesn’t back up music files added to your device from sources other than iTunes.

  • Open Settings app from your Home screen
  • Select ‘iCloud’.
  • Tap ‘Backup’.
  • Switch on ‘iCloud Backup’.

Your device will now automatically back up your iPhone’s data when connected to a power source and a wifi network.

Third Party Apps for Backup:
You can use other third party apps that allow you to backup your photos from your iPhone. There are many apps available for the same. Do your research, download an appropriate app and back up data by following the instructions given by the app. These apps are pretty reliable.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
