Before deleting photos and videos from Google Photos app on iOS device, make sure that your photos and videos have been backed up. If you want see your backups and find deleted items later, then go to photos.google.com. You can access your backed-up photos and videos including ones you deleted locally from your device by clicking "Photos" section of the Google Photos app.

Following are the steps to Delete Local Photos and Videos from Google Photos on iOS:

  1. Open "Google Photos" app on your iOS device.
  2. Press and hold a photo or video which you want to delete from your device, then select any others you want to delete.
  3. Tap "Options" icon (3 Vertical dots) located at the top right corner on the screen. If you see 3 vertical dots, that means you have taken the photo oe video with your iOS device. Otherwise, you did not take that photo oe video with your iOS device.
  4. Select "Delete device copy" option.
  5. A pop up window opens up to ask for permission to delete the photo, confirm "Delete".
  6. Open "iOS Photos app" (not the Google Photos app).
  7. Click "Recently Deleted" album and delete those same photos and videos.
