Last Updated :Creating multiple libraries for different set of pictures is one of the best ways to organize photos on your Mac machine. It is a good strategy to separate pictures to have a clutter free collection. Following is the step by step process to see how you can create a new library in the Photos app.
- Close the Photos app (if it is open)
- Now hold the 'Option' key on your Mac’s keyboard and click the Photos app.
- Click 'Create New' and in the 'Save As' field, give a name to your new library.
- You can also change the location of the library by making changes to the 'Where' field
- Once you are all done with your new library name and location, click 'Ok' button.
- To switch between libraries, open the 'Pictures' folder and double-click on the library you wish to use.

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
