How to click candid pictures of children?

Photos look best when candid. And so do children, so here’s one simple advice mothers – click as many candid pictures of your kids as you can. After all, that is how you can bring out a child’s innocence.

Here are some simple tips which would help a mother take natural and candid pictures:

• Children, like adults, sometimes become very aware of a camera pointing their way. They might stiffen up, or act extra energetically (depends on the kid’s nature). So to get truly beautiful and candid pictures, sneak up on them with a camera while they are busy. Choose moments when they might not expect you, like while playing, chatting with their friends, snooping around in the fridge, or while painting. Maintain your distance and click away.
• The location makes a lot of difference as well. Mothers can either take kids to a park or a zoo, and let them have fun. Their interaction with nature will reflect in great candid pictures. Even the comfort of their room can have that desired effect.
• Give them props. Engage them in a way that it takes a child’s mind away from all things. That way, you will get a good opportunity for clicking candid pictures.
• Experiment with different modes of your camera. Portrait will allow you to focus on your child’s face while sports will get you some nice pictures while you kid is busy running around.
• Don’t stop clicking! Even if you have asked your kid to pose for a picture, keep clicking even after you have got your shot. You are bound to get a candid picture because, let’s face it, kids have got become restless after a couple of seconds. A good idea would be to shoot in the burst mode, where you press once for a click but do not release your finger. This way, the camera will take multiple photos very fast.
