DedupeCan I Stop Photos App from Automatically Importing Photos from SD Card?
Last Updated :When you slot your camera's SD card into Macbook Pro, the Photos app opens up automatically and any new photos on the card are then quickly imported to Photos app. If you don't want this to happen every time when you slot in your SD card, then you can stop Photos app from automatically importing photos from SD card.
To do so,
- Open "Photos" app on your Mac pro and select "Preferences" option.
- Click "General" tab and uncheck the box "Copy items to the Photos Library" option located in the "Importing" section and close the "Preferences" window to apply changes.
- Now, when you slot your camera's SD card into Mac Pro, your photos will not be imported to Photos app.
- The Photos app leaves the photo files in their original location and accesses them as "Referenced Files".

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!

PicBackMan was an answer to many a prayer. How can I get this MASSIVE collection of photos onto a service that cripples uploading? PicBackMan.
