Apple's Photos app was introduced in iOS 7 and working fine on the Mac. Google Photos is an application provided by Google. It is a free download for iOS, so you can run it on your iPhone or iPad along with Android.

Apple's Photos app offers you 5 GB of free storage space to all its users. But, this storage is also used for your iOS device backups, photo or video library, and documents. Those who need a larger storage space can upgrade to various available paid plans. It offers 50 GB space for $0.99/month, 200GB space for $2.99/month and 1TB space for $9.99/month.

Google Photos offers unlimited free storage capacity with limitations. You can upload photos up to 16 megapixels and videos up to 1080p or 15 GB for full resolution to all its users. You can upgrade your free account to a paid monthly subscription plan for more storage space. It offers 100GB space for $2/month, 1TB space for $10/month and 10TB space for $100/month and this storage space is shared with other Google services. RAW files are stored as .jpeg on Google's High Quality plan. If you choose High Quality option, then you can storage unlimited photos, but is compressed into high quality versions. If you want to store your photos in Original format, choose Google's Original plan i.e 15GB of free storage space.
