How to Save Space on Mac with Optimized Storage and iCloud Photo Library?

With iCloud Photo Library and "Optimized Storage" feature, you never have to worry about running out of space. The "Optimized Storage" feature allows you to store full-resolution photos and videos in iCloud. If you turn ON "Optimized Storage" and have enough storage space on your Mac, then original photos will be stored on your Mac.

Following are the steps to Turn on Optimize Storage on Your Mac:

  1. Launch "Photos for OS X" app on your Mac.
  2. Click "Photos" tab.
  3. Select "Preferences..." option.
  4. Click "iCloud" tab.
  5. Click "Optimize Mac Storage".
