How to migrate photos from iPhoto to Photos for OS X?

Apple recently released it much anticipated Photos App. The Photos for OS X is designed to replace Apple's existing photos app i.e. Aperture and iPhoto. So, if you want to know how to migrate photos from iPhoto to all new Photos app, read below:

When you 'Photos' app for the first time, you'll be asked to choose a library. Select the largest library first and then wait for it to completely migrate from iPhoto. the time it takes ti migrate photos depends on the number of photos you have in your library.

Manually Migrate A Library into Photos

  1. Close the Photos app.
  2. Hold down the Option key and open the Photos app again.
  3. When prompted, select the library you wish to open. If the library is not listed, you can navigate to it by clicking "Other Library."
  4. Select the library and click "Choose Library."
