How to Migrate iPhoto Library to RAID 1?

Last Updated :

You can easily migrate or move iPhoto Library to RAID 1. RAID (i.e. Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks or Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is data storage technology which uses multiple disks to provide fault tolerance and improve performance. It combines multiple physical hard disk drive components into a single logical unit.

If you want to move an entire iPhoto Library to an external hard drive or RAID 1, then make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended. Now first quit "iPhoto" and go to "Picture" folder and copy the iPhoto Library to an external hard drive or RAID 1. Hold down the Option key while launching iPhoto and select "Choose Library" and then locate the new location. You can check the migrated library and when you sure that all is well, then delete your library to free up space on Mac. This way you can migrate your iPhoto Library to an external hard drive or RAID.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
