How to Migrate from iPhoto to Photos on iOS 8?

Last Updated :

iPhoto is not supported on iOS 8. So you can launch 'Photos' app to access your photos and videos. If you are updating to iOS 8 and iPhoto for iOS is not running on new iOS, you can migrate your data from iPhoto to Photos app. When you try to launch iPhoto for the first time on new iOS, a "Migrate data from iPhoto to Photos" window opens up. Tap "Migrate" button to start the migrating process. When you start migrating process, 'Photos' app opens up and process bar appears. Don't delete iPhoto from your device until you have successfully migrated your data. You can migrate any photos in your iPhoto library which are not already added in 'Photos' app. Photo books, slideshows and web journals are converted into regular albums in iPhoto. If you have marked photos as Favorite in iPhoto, those are marked as Favorite in 'Photos'. Tags and captions from iPhoto are not displayed in 'Photos'.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
