How to import RAW or JPG images to your iPhone using the USB adapter?

Last Updated :

Importing RAW photos from DSLR has become possible now. To import RAW or JPG images from your DSLR camera to your iPhone, you will need a Lightning to USB cable. With this cable you can actually connect any USB-connected camera, including connecting another iOS device.
  1. Turn on your camera.
  2. Connect it to its cable and plug the USB end into the USB adapter.
  3. Connect the adapter to your iPhone.
  4. Open the Photos app if it doesn't open automatically.
  5. Tap the Import tab. If you have many images on your card, your iPhone may take a few moments to display this screen.
  6. If you want to import every image or video you have on the card, tap Import followed by Import All; if you want to import selectively, tap individual thumbnails, select Import, and choose Import Selected.
  7. When the process is finished, you'll be asked whether you'd like to Delete the imported files off your camera, or Keep them.
  8. You can now disconnect the USB adapter and turn off your camera, or continue importing more files.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
