How to Disable iCloud on iPhone, iPad & Mac?

Last Updated :

Automatic backup means that all your photos and videos can be uploaded straight to the iCloud so you can access them on all your devices and they’ll be there for safe keeping. However, there are people who don’t want it to work automatically, instead have a control over what is to be backed up and when.

Note : If you decide to turn it off on all of your devices (iPhone, iPad and Mac), all the images previously saved to the iCloud will be lost.

Here’s how  you can ensure that your photos and video aren’t getting backed up to the iCloud on Apple’s iPhone or iPad.We suggest you to manually backup your iCloud photos to a safe place before you turn off the auto backup.

  1. Go to your iPhone / iPad settings. If your are on Mac then go to your System Preference Menu and select 'iCloud'.
  2. Turn off photostreams. From inside your iCloud menu you’ll be able to turn off Photostream
  3. If you’ve got any photostream shared previously, you'll have to delete them separately.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
