Last Updated :If you want to backup your photos and videos to iCloud, you must need an iCloud account and be signed in to it. iCloud has a Auto Backup feature which allows you to backup photos and videos automatically. iCloud Backups trigger when your iPhone or iPad is plugged in and on Wi-Fi connection.
Steps to Backup your iPhone or iPad using iCloud:
- Launch "Settings" app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Select "iCloud".
- Tap "Backup".
- Move slider from left to right to turn ON "iCloud Backup" located under the Backup section.
- Tap "Back Up Now".
- Wait for your backup to complete before updating.
Steps to Backup your iPhone or iPad using iTunes on your Mac:
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to computer via USB cable that came along with your device.
- Open "iTunes" and click on the device icon located in the tab bar.
- In the "Summary" section, scroll to "Backups".
- Change the "Automatically Back Up" section to "This Computer".
- Click "Back Up Now" located under 'Manually Back Up and Restore' section.

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
