Setting up iCloud photo library on your iOs device is easy. Once it is set up, backing up your iPhone to iPad becomes a cake walk. Follow the step by step process to backup photos from iPhone to iPad using iCloud Photo Library.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone. The iCloud Photo Library is a feature that allows you to upload your entire photo collection to your iCloud account, which allows you to access them from all of your connected devices.
- This requires iOS 8.1 or later for both the iPhone and the iPad.
- Turning on the iCloud Photo Library will remove any images that have been synced from iTunes. - Select "iCloud" from the menu. This will open a menu allowing you to adjust your iCloud account settings.
- Log in with your Apple ID if you aren't already. The iCloud Photo Library requires iCloud, which is accessed through your Apple ID.
- Tap the "Photos" option. This will open the Photos settings menu.
- Toggle the "iCloud Photo Library Beta" ON. After a moment, your iPhone will display how many photos it is uploading to your iCloud account.
- Unlike Photo Streams (see below), this method will count against your available iCloud storage. If you have "Download and Keep" selected, the original, full-resolution photos will be kept on the device after being uploaded to iCloud.
- Connect your iPhone to a wireless network. You will need to be connected to a wireless network to upload the photos to the iCloud Photo Library. Any new photos you take after enabling iCloud Photo Library will be automatically uploaded the next time you connect to a wireless network.
- Open the Photos app on your iPad. After uploading the photos to the iCloud Photo Library, you will be able to access them from your iPad's Photos app.
- Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID on your iPad. - Tap "Albums" and then select "All Photos". This album contains all of the photos that are currently stored in your iCloud Photo Library. When you load this for the first time, it may take a few minutes for all of the photos to appear. - iCloud Photo Library disables the Camera Roll and Photo Stream albums, as all your pictures will be collected in the All Pictures album.
- Find the photo you want. You can browse through the All Photos album, or you can tap "Photos" at the bottom and use the dates to find the photo you are looking for.
