How to Add Photos to My Photo Stream in iPhoto?

If you want to use 'My Photo Stream', then you need an iCloud account. If you are using My Photo Stream on Mac, then you need Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or later. When you add photos to My Photo Stream it will automatically uploaded to iCloud account. iCloud can store up to 1000 photos from My Photo Stream. If you add more photos to My Photo Stream i.e more than 1000, then oldest photo is removed to make space. It allows you to upload .JPEG, .PNG, .TIFF or RAW image file formats. You can add photos to My Photo Stream in two ways i.e Automatically and Manually. You can add photos to My Photo Stream by turning ON 'My Photo Stream' in iPhoto. If you want to add photos to My Photo Stream manually, then you need to turn OFF 'My Photo Stream' in iPhoto.

There are two ways to Add Photos to My Photo Stream in iPhoto:


Turn ON Automatic Uploading to My Photo Stream:
  • Open "iPhoto" on your Mac.
  • Click "Preferences" and then click "iCloud".
  • Check mark the box located in front of the "Automatic Upload".
Add Photos to My Photo Stream Manually:
  • Open "iPhoto" on your Mac.
  • Select the photos which you want to add.
  • You have three options to add photos to my Photo Stream.
    - Click "Share" button located in the toolbar and click "iCloud" and then click "My Photo Stream".
    - Click "Add to" button located in the toolbar and click "iCloud" and then click "My Photo Stream".
    - Drag the photos to "iCloud" located in the Source List and click "My Photo Stream".
  • Select any one of the above option to add photos to My Photo Stream in iPhoto.
