Here's how to make sure your photos are always backed up automatically to OneDrive, and in their original full sizes and resolutions.
A. iPhone Phone to OneDrive:
Navigate to Settings > iCloud > Photos.
Disable iCloud Photo Backup.
Now change 'My Photo Stream' and 'Photo Sharing' options to Off.
Now you will be prompted to delete the photo stream from your device.
Now install OneDrive for iOS from your App Store
Sign in with Microsoft account.
Now you will be prompted to enable automatic photo backup.
To ensure that automatic photo backup is configured correctly, tap on Settings in the toolbar and look at the top two options under ‘Options’.
The first, ‘Camera Backup’ should be ‘On’ & the second, ‘Photo Downloads’ should be ‘Original’.
B. Android Phone to OneDrive:
Firstly, you need to turn off auto backup for Google Photos as it is a default backup app for android phones. (Go to Photos > Settings > Auto Backup > Turn it to Off).
Now install OneDrive from your Google Play Store.
Sign in with your Microsoft Account.
Now you will be prompted to enable automatic photo backup.
To ensure that the automatic photo backup is configured correctly, go to Settings > Options.
The first 'Camera Backup' should be On & 'Photo Downloads' should be 'Original'.
C. Windows Phone to OneDrive:
For Windows Phone as a previous version of the OS, Microsoft will prompt you to backup photos through your OneDrive account during initial setup.
Go to Settings > Applications > 'Photos + Camera'.
Now scroll down to 'Auto Upload' & tap the OneDrive entry.
Now you can see, there are different settings for both photos & videos.
Change the configuration to 'Best Quality (Needs Wi-Fi)'.
Now all the photos & videos that you take from your phone will be saved in the best quality to your OneDrive Camera Roll Folder in OneDrive.
