How to save a photo in the email attachment from Mail app to iCloud Drive?

Last Updated :

iOS 9 users can make the most of their iCloud storage in more ways than one. The default Mail App comes in with an amazing feature with which users can save email attachment directly from the mail app to the iCloud drive. This feature saves a lot of time and eliminates the need to download the attachment before moving it to iCloud.

Here’s a step by step guide to take full advantage of this new feature.
  1. Open the mail app you use on your iOS device
  2. Choose an email message with the attachment you want to add to your iCloud account
  3. Tap and hold the attachment you would like to add to iCloud. You can’t add more than one attachment at the same time. You will see a share sheet on the screen.
  4. You will see two rows of icons. Select the bottom row and tap on “Save attachment” icon. It is the one in the shape of a cloud. This action will take you directly to the iCloud drive on your device.
  5. Once there, select the folder you would like to save your document and then tap on “Move to this location”
You will then be redirected back to your Mail screen. Your attachment will be in your iCloud drive and you can access it on any other device. So, with the above steps, you can easily save email attachment directly to iCloud drive from the mail app.

PicBackMan does exactly what it's supposed to. It's quick and efficient. It runs unobtrusively in the background and has done an excellent job of uploading more than 300GB of photos to 2 different services. After having lost a lot of personal memories to a hard drive crash, it's nice to know that my photos are safe in 2 different places.

LOVE this program! Works better than ANY other program out there that I have found to upload thousands of pictures WITH SUB-FOLDERS to SmugMug! Thank you so much for what you do! :) #happycustomer

I pointed PicBackMan at a directory structure, and next time I looked - all the photos had uploaded! Pretty cool. I use SmugMug and while I really like it, the process of creating directories in is pretty laborious when you need to make 80+ at a time. This was a breeze. Thank you!
