How to Automatically Backup Photos from Nokia Lumia to OneDrive?

OneDrive (previously SkyDrive) is a cloud storage service which allows you to upload and sync photos, videos & files to a cloud storage and then access them from a Web browser or their local device. OneDrive has a feature 'Automatic Upload' which allows you to automatically upload photos to OneDrive from your Nokia Lumia. It offers 7GB of free storage space to all its users. You can earn up to 5 GB of free storage space for referring new users (500 MB each) to OneDrive. You can also earn 3 GB of free storage space, when you enable 'Automatic uploads' using the OneDrive mobile app.

Following are the steps to automatically backup photos from Nokia Lumia to SkyDrive:

  1. Go to https://onedrive.live.com & sign in to your account. If you don't have an account, then create one.
  2. Download "OneDrive App" on your phone from the App store & launch it.
  3. Tap "Start" button to go to the start screen on Nokia Lumia phone.
  4. Go to "Pictures".
  5. Tap "..." (3 horizontal dots) located at the bottom right side corner on your phone screen.
  6. Tap "Settings" & select "Applications" option.
  7. Move the slider from left to right to turn ON "Automatically upload to SkyDrive".
  8. You will be prompted with a message that says "This may use your data plan, and may incur charges" & click "Yes".
  9. All your photos will now be automatically uploaded to SkyDrive.
